Dell Inspiron 13 5370 Review: When Agility Meets Mobility

As much as technologies are making smartphones the only device we will ever need in the future, laptops are still the next most convenient gadget that we carry around with us on our daily lifestyle. Whether it’s coming up with a presentation deck, churning out reports or binge-watching Netflix, there are three major things most of us will always look for in a laptop - Portable. Light. Powerful.

The Dell Inspiron 13 5000, to be exact – the Inspiron 13 5370 model is my new favorite because it’s thin, lightweight, powerful (fast), and most of all, it doesn’t only come in one basic or tacky colors, they have one in its most distinct name - Pink Champagne. The color is mesmerising. If you are not one that digs unique, the Inspiron 13 5370 does come with a premium, classic-looking Platinum Silver color.

LIGHTNING SPEED PERFORMANCE
Powered by an 8th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-8550U Processor (8MB Cache, 4.0GHz) with 8GB, DDR4, 2400MHz of up to 32GB memory, an AMD Radeon® 530 Graphics with 2G GDDR5 Graphics memory, a 256GB solid state drive, 13-inch FHD anti-glare LED-backlit display yet only weighing at 1.4kg – there is nothing NOT love about it.

Don’t understand a single tech language I just said?

In simple language, the Inspiron 13 5370 is packed with a powerful yet super responsive performance for faster boot up and less waiting time, dramatic graphics for the smoothness and awesome visual performance, an epic memory power for effortless multitasking with all apps running simultaneously.

CROWD PLEASING FEATURE
Aside from its powerful specs packed within this small little guy, another notable feature of the Inspiron 13 is it comes with a Fingerprint Reader on the power button making logins effortless, an optional backlit keyboard making typing in dim light an enjoyable moment and a universal connectivity where it comes with a USB Type C 3.1 that allows you to charge your device.

BATTERY LIFE
At full charge, the Inspiron 13 can last up to 8 hours of light work and an average of 5 hours for heavy-duty work such as binge-watching movies. With the power saving mode on, you can expect a far longer battery life.

VISUAL
With the anti-glare FHD LED-backlit display, your eyes will feel less strenuous from the long hours of works or binge-watching dramas. As it is anti-glare, feel free to use it under bright lights or outdoors without any distracting reflections. Also, the clarity and consistency of the screen color provide an awesome wide-angle view so that everyone can watch the display without missing any important information together.

AUDIO
Dell proudly states that they’ve packed the Inspiron 13 with Waves MaxxAudio® Pro where you can hear everything, from concerts to film scores and character dialogue with rich, resonant tones. For a 13-inch laptop, the audio is definitely impressive cause it is like a Poodle with a German Shepherd bark but definitely not an eargasm audio experience if you are really into orchestra theater audio experience. Nonetheless, I do agree that the Waves MaxxAudio® Pro allows you to hear everything – loud and clear in a medium-sized room should you choose to blast it at max volume. So, rest assured that it will definitely please your clients during presentations.

OTHERS
I rarely enjoy using a touchpad caused it lacks speed, precision, and comfort. However, the Inspiron 13’s touchpad is pretty good. Its precision and sensitivity to your touch are accurate, allowing multi-tasking a seamless process.

Now, this is one feature that I have yet to fully explore as I have not been given the opportunity to test it out, but it’s been said the Inspiron 13 comes with a SmartByte technology that prioritizes streaming content over other applications, to ensure that what you’re watching plays smoothly. This is definitely a futureproof feature as we’re going into the era of live streaming.

DESIGNED TO BE THE LAST MAN STANDING
Here’s the last interesting thing about it, the Inspiron 13 has gone through lots of harsh tests that happens often in our daily lives, such as:
1) For any clumsy users out there, the keyboard is designed to be spill-resistant.
2) Forgot to take your laptop out of the car? Don’t worry, it can withstand short-term heat conditions of up to 65°C/149°F.
3) Worried that by opening and closing the lid too often would lead to loose hinges in the long run? It’ll last for 20,000 times before the hinges start to give way.
4) Irresponsive keys and touchpads after long use? If you can reach 10 million keystrokes and 1 million times on the touchpad. Dell's QC team says it’ll still survive. So, go ahead and spam all you want.
5) Though its height is only at 15.81mm, it will definitely not easily bend like the iPhone’s should you decide to handle it roughly.

PRICE
Now, for the moment of truth.

The starting price of this device is RM3,899.00.

If you’re having second doubts because it sits close to the RM4,000.00 bracket. Don’t worry, it’s still cheaper than an iPhone XS and the Samsung Note 9 and trust me, it's worth the money.

FINAL VERDICT
Seriously, there’s nothing NOT to love about the Inspiron 13 5370. It is an all-rounder perfect laptop for students and working adults who want a fast, powerful yet light laptop to accompany our hectic lifestyle.
